The game started on 1 January 2007.

It will never end.

The game consists of a series of consecutive finite picking cycles.

Each picking cycle has its own ranking.

At the beginning of each picking cycle, the rules of the next picking cycle are automaticlly set as the same as the current one at this moment in time.

You can enter the game at any moment, just subscribing to the mailing list. You do it by sending a blank e-mail to fantasyscout+subscribe@groups.io , and then replying with another blank e-mail to the request confirmation e-mail that you'll receive.

The following kinds of rules can be modified: general, previous picking cycles, current picking cycle, next picking cycle (singular).

Rules can be modified just sending a proposal to fantasyscout@groups.io .

Every e-mail you send to fantasyscout@groups.io will be automatically forwarded to every scout, including yourself.

Only scouts who are playing since at least 6 months can vote.

You vote by replying to the e-mail with the proposal.

Every e-mail you send to fantasyscout@groups.io (i.e. the address from which you receive the e-mail with the proposal) will be automatically forwarded to every scout, including yourself.

General (including this one), previous picking cycle and current picking cycle rules: if after 30 days (720 hours) nobody has voted against, the proposal is accepted, and becomes rule. Next picking cycle rules: if after a week (168 hours) at least 2/3 of the voters (for or against) have voted for, the proposal is accepted, and becomes rule.

2. Previous picking cycles

This picking cycle starts on August 1 [8th cycle: 2022. 9th cycle: 2024] and ends after 2 years, on July 31 [8th cycle: 2024. 9th cycle: 2026] (considering, for both start and end, the UTC+00:00 time zone).

You play by picking players.

All the scouts who are in the previous picking cycle ranking can pick players in the current picking cycle. Also, N more scouts can pick players, where N is [8th cycle: 16. 9th cycle: to be determined, i.e.] either (30 - number of scouts in the previous picking cycle ranking) [i.e. 8th cycle: 16. 9th cycle: to be determined] or 10, whatever is the highest.

There are currently 16 free spots for scouts who have not picked in the previous picking cycle, as 0 "new" scouts have already picked in the current picking cycle.

At any moment before the end of the picking cycle, you can pick a player if he satisfies all the following conditions:

Is there a list of the players that I can pick?

- he has not played more than 2 international A matches

You can pick a player if he has played 0, 1 or 2 international A matches.

What is an "international A match"?

Check how many matches a given player has played on Soccerway .

- nobody has picked him (in any picking cycle)

You can't pick a picked player, even if the scout that has picked him has left the game.

If you pick a player that has a double citizenship, and then he is officially committed to the national team that is not eligible for Fantasy Scout, you'll keep him, i.e. you'll lose points.

If a new nation [8th cycle: Portugal. 9th cycle: to be determined] is in play, you can only pick one player from that nation once every 24 hours for the first 24 days of the picking cycle.

To pick a player, just send an e-mail to fantasyscout@groups.io .

Every e-mail you send to fantasyscout@groups.io will be automatically forwarded to every scout, including yourself.

If you don't pick at least 2 players in this picking cycle, you won't be included in this picking cycle ranking.

You can't pick more than 24 players in this picking cycle.

You can't drop a player once picked.

You can't trade players.

The score of a player of yours is 1 point for each cap he earns + 1 point for each goal he scores in international A matches played for any of the eligible national teams in his entire career after you have picked him.

What is an "international A match"?

Points scored after the end of the picking cycle count too.

Who are the best historic players according to the scoring system?

The eligible national teams are:

a. (the eight default ones, i.e.) Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, France, England, Netherlands, Spain

b. [8th cycle: Belgium and Portugal. 9th cycle: to be determined, i.e.] the top two national teams, besides the ones mentioned under (a), in the Fifa World Ranking as of July 21 just before the beginning of the picking cycle [8th cycle: 2022. 9th cycle: 2024]

Your score is the sum of the scores of the players you have picked in this picking cycle, minus 10 points for each picked player bar the first 2.
